There was a snow storm yesterday -monday 8th of March- in Lavern (Subirats) and Penedès which has been one of the most important snowfalls of the last years. It was snowing during the whole day, 12 cm thick and even more in higher regions, with a temperature around 0ºC. This situation is not usual in Penedès.
Snow is beneficial for the vineyard because makes the land water reserve increase. During 2010 we have already recorded a rainfall of 186 liters, an amount which is higher than the average of these months. Winter temperatures have been quite low, one of the lowest of the last years. Pruning is a bit delayed due to the rain that has felt during the months of January and February.
